How good is a true home grown free range poached, fried, scrambled egg laid by a happy chicken?
Vegetarian you say? Well, that’s no reason for not keeping chooks.
Not only do chickens provide eggs but they do a mountain of work around my farm. They eat the caterpillars and bugs in the orchard, and they de-weed and de-seed my garden beds before planting.
And they can be just good company.
Oh did I mention they’re little fertiliser factories too? With a little planning (and fencing) the chook is an integral part of the farm. At the Co-Op, the chicken always comes first. We have a variety of quality grains and pellets, nesting boxes, waterers and feeders, diatomaceous earth and all the things to keep your chickens happy and healthy.
